Gina Weathersby

Executive Director, Communities In Schools of Coweta County


Gina Weathersby, Executive Director of CIS of Coweta, has over 25 years of  experience in both the non-profit and for-profit sectors and served for over 18 years in executive positions with several Coweta-based businesses.


Gina has experience in managing budgets, securing corporate donations and acquiring grants for non-profit organizations. She has successfully developed and implemented plans for strategic business development, corporate giving, board and volunteer development, and marketing and public relations.


She also has experience in programs serving foster children and at-risk youth. She helped organize and served as Executive Director of the Keith Brooking Children’s Foundation, a program for underprivileged local school children begun by Coweta native Keith Brooking.


Brooking was a football standout at East Coweta High and Georgia Tech and had a successful career in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons and Dallas Cowboys.


As head of Communities In Schools of Coweta, Weathersby will coordinate community-based student assistance efforts with existing programs offered by Coweta County schools.

Denise Buchanan

CIS Program Director


Denise Buchanan is the Program Manager with CIS of Coweta County. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia. She has been with CIS for almost three years. She oversees and assists the site coordinators at East Coweta High School, Ruth Hill Elementary and Newnan High School. She also speaks to local clubs, businesses and community partners about the great work that Communities In Schools is doing with the students that they serve.


The one thing that she loves the most about her job is the relationships that she and the site coordinators are able to build with students. She enjoys being able to see students set goals for themselves, reach those goals and to see their needs met.


Denise and her husband, Richard, a Vice President and Commercial Lender with The Bank of North Georgia, reside in Fayette County with their two children, Haley and Christopher.
